Love it!

Lilien 7/22/2026

I love my new dryer! It's quiet (except for the buzzer that lets you know your load is done). It drys well and it's easy to clean the lint filter. It the perfect size for my small apartment. Installation was very easy. My son did it and set up the exhaust tube in minutes.

Terrible customer service for a dryer not worth it

whirlpool 3/7/2026

I purchased this a couple of months ago. Paid the extra $60 for installation, which says includes parts. The parts did not come with it and it was not installed. I purchased the venting separately and installed it myself but was still charged for it. There is damage on the outside paneling and the door is very difficult to close. Not sure if it was dropped...Calling customer service is a joke with hold times, just to call and request the refund (which still hasn't come) and submit a service request ( which didn't happen because I couldn't stay on the phone any longer) was over an hour and a half. Just another example of a big company not too concerned with their customers. The dryer itself isn't worth the cost. I typically have to run it a couple of times to completely dry heavier loads - jeans, towels etc. The only plus was that it actually fit in the doorway of my rental house.

I bought my dryer a month ago . It™€™s fairly quiet when in use. Although I like the dryer it is very hard to open. I have tried to adjust it but it hasn™€™t helped. My dryer is a stackable so when trying to open it I need both hands and to stand on a stool. The filter is in the back of the drum witch is not handy at all, again you have to stand on a stool to reach it.Overall I like the dryer but does have draw backs.

But when the dryer was delivered and drop off the level legs were off and was told that i needed to adjust them my self. the delivery guys left and i attempted to adjust the legs and notice two of them were jammed and the threads were damaged and would not turn all the way throught. i guess that why they left in a hurry...

Purchased about 1 month ago. Small dryer using 120 volts. Was told it would take longer to dry because it was 120 volt unit. So far I've had no problems drying. Does not seem to take longer to dry clothes. Only small issue is the placement of the lint filter. Placement in the back of the dryer just is annoying to clean.

Difficult to Get the Dryer to Heat

Jean 6/6/2025

Does not heat up effectively to dry the clothes. The first dryer I received I had to change the position of the dryer cycle knob every 10 minutes to find a position where it would heat. I exchanged the "defective" dyer for another one of the same model. The second dryer did not heat until it had been running for 2 hours. Once I got either of the dryers to heat, they dried the cloths well. Don't know what the secret is to get heat. I returned the second dryer and purchased a different brand.

Replacement for junk dryer from amazon.

laundry lover 5/24/2025

Minus one star because I can't figure out how to turn off the end of cycle buzzer. Also because the big knob seemed to be for the wrong appliance. It stuck out too far. Maybe someone packed the wrong knob in the bag. I don't know but I did order a better one on ebay for $20. (We couldn't initially afford this dryer so we got a cheap one from amazon for $200. It was awful. It died a long, noisy death finally and we had saved up enough money to buy this one finally. It wasn't what we really wanted. Too small, smelled weird, not efficient, had to buy filters. Near total waste of money.) I LOVE OUR NEW DRYER!! The capacity is perfect to go with our apartment size washing machine (It's a magic chef, very small). This dryer makes it so much more efficient at drying our things. I can actually do all our washing in one day now. It's quiet and easy to use. I got a slim vent kit and an indoor vent from home depot. (This traps the lint that come out since it's portable and we don't have an outside vent in our apartment.) I dry on "normal" setting and it doesn't even really seem to make very much humidity, honestly. The delivery men were great. I was able to get it set up by myself in a short amount of time. Such a relief to have a nice "big" little dryer. Looking forward to years of laundry joy.

Daisy mae 11/4/2024

Bought but had to go back as it had issues with door closing and hard to open. Handle lose will break soon . Door issue is the hinges which got past quality control as not install to make door square in place so is very hard to open and close. Repair came and only adjusted 1 hinge and door some better can close and open but gap at bottom so heat is escaping out bring a higher electric bill for me. Needs reinstall of new both hinges to be right. Can't tell a repairman as they know it all. Not well made. Cheap tin like metal. Not like the one removed from here a 20 yr old model that sounded sturdy and not like a tin can sound.

Compact & Built Tough

Beau, The Appliance Guy 6/29/2024

Great lil Dryer. Built tough and does what it's suppose to. I was hesitant at first because of a few reviews stating the door is too hard to open or it takes too long for clothes to dry. Well in my opinion the door has just the right amount of tension to keep the clothes from pushing the door open while in service. Otherwise you would return to a batch of wet sour clothes that failed to complete a cycle. I think they got it just right. As far as it taking too long to dry the clothes. It's consumes less energy than a hair dryer on a standard 120v 15a (1800w) wall outlet, so you really can't expect it to dry like a 240v (5800w) dryer. Taking that into consideration, it does a fantastic job! Actually way better than I expected it to. Here's a little trade secret. The shorter the length of the dryer duct, the quicker it dries. Oh, and don't overload it. As an appliance technician for over 30 yrs we have seen very few LDR3822PQ3 dryers fail and when they do fail it's usually due to the same reasons as their larger counterpart. The customer fails to have it regularly serviced or cleaned which should be done annually and not greater than 2yrs between services. Plenty vids out there on how to clean/service your dryer. All and all the LDR3822PQ3 dryers are tough, build like it's 7cf big brother, sharing a lot of the same common parts. One could expect to get at least a +20yr service life in a household of 2-3 members. It's a compact dryer, It's not over priced and Yes, I definitely recommend this appliance for those in need of a compact/portable or low energy consumption dryer. Perfect for camping, apartments or small families.

GREEN MACHINE

Beau, The Appliance Guy 6/22/2024

Do NOT be misled by ridiculous reviews stated out of ignorance or those seeking to acquire something for nothing with public complaints. This lil dryer is a GREEN MONSTER! No really! For a dryer that is 1/2 the size, 1/2 the capacity one would think "ok it consumes 1/2 the energy" yet realistically it's less than 1/3 the energy, it's a (Green Machine). A Typical full size 240v electric dryer consumes just under 6000 watts per hour combined consumption when the drum/fan motor and heating element are on between its thermostatic cycles. This "Green Machine" consumes less than 1800 watts on a standard 120v electrical outlet. OK I know what you're thinking. If it's less than 1/3 the energy consumption then it should take 3 times longer to dry my clothes RIGHT?.... NOT! My dry times increased by less than 50% meaning if your large dryer takes 1 hour to dry a batch of clothes then it will require an additional 30 minutes or less to do the same. But here's the kicker. Instead of it consuming 6000 watts of energy in that hour, "The Green Machine" requires less than 2700 watts to achieve the same objective in less than 90 min. However, my dry time are much less due to a short drier duct run (less than a foot) and I spin my clothes in a centrifugal spin dryer for 2-3 minuets prior taking less than 30 minutes to complete a typical dry cycle instead of 90. Of course times vary depending on batch size & material type like my dog's blanket for instance dries in less than 10 minutes. WAIT, WHAT! HOW? Due to variable factors like Temperature, Airflow, Batch size, Retention time Whirlpool has managed to increase overall efficiencies dramatically. Another key note is that this dryer dries at a lower temperature than a full size dryer meaning it doesn't heat up your house like BIG dryers do thus your HVAC system doesn't have to work as hard pumping out all that excess waste heat, and the lower temperature is gentle on your clothes making them last longer. I'm an electrical engineer which you probably figured as much the way I'm geeking out over a dryer at 3am. But I live off grid and this highly efficient robust dryer helps to make the lifestyle I chose an easier objective. Every kilowatt saved leaves me more for the TESLA to get me to work. The key to a cleaner future begins with conservation. THANKS Whirlpool for making a really great product. I could go on and on with the reasons why this humble little dryer just makes cents LOL.

Happy to have it

MRMRgail 6/12/2024

We have a compact washer/dryer in our Newmar Motorcoach, purchased new with appliances. The dryer truly never worked properly. Timed drying never worked. Sensor drying is fallible. Must do two cycles and half the time, it doesn™€™t work™€¦no heat. I clean the filter each load and wash it routinely along with brushing out the three foot dryer vent. I™€™ve attempted to get help from customer service but they are not interested as the units are in a Motorcoach. That being said, I™€™m happy I have the convenience of a washer/dryer in our Motorcoach as we live in it full time. There are only two choices in manufacturers for these Motorcoach appliances. I guess I™€™d have to recommend it because I don™€™t think I™€™d try the other brand. Maybe we just got a ™€œlemon™€.

Disappointed 6/11/2024

Disappointed. Our old dryer was about 4 -4.5 cu. ft. We felt something smaller but not too small would be fine. After buying our preferred brand - Whirlpool - we realized it used 120 volts, not 240. Our old dryer used 240. What took 35 - minutes to dry with the old dryer now takes over an hour with the 120 volt dryer. We're getting used to the fact but disappointed in the lack of info about the 3.4 cu. ft. Compact Front Load Dryer . Otherwise it works well enough.
